Situated between Williamsburg and Richmond, the Royal New Kent has been called the "the truest representation of an Irish links in America." Designed by Mike Stranz, the club opened in 1997 to rave reviews and has continued to garner accolades throughout the past decade.

The course is set among low hills between Diascund Creek and the Chickahominy River and boasts some astounding scenery reminiscent of the Irish landscape of renown links courses such as Royal County Down and Ballybunion. The windswept and rugged landscape offers challenging contoured fairways with occasional blind shots with greens hiding behind sharp, grassy knolls and wry grass dunes. The hand stacked rock walls and "wild" rough, the likes of which you'll see this side of Scotland, emulates that "foreign" landscape which sometimes lends Royal New Kent an air of quiet desolation. Each hole offers several playing options and even though ranked as one of the hardest courses in the nation, players of every skill will find they can score well provided they take the time to think each shot through.

Equal to the standards set by the course, Royal New Kent has first-rate conveniences such as a full-service bar, dining and meeting rooms, practice facilities and a pro shop.

Known as "the truest representation of an Irish links in America" and one of best places to play in Virginia, the 18th is an awesome finishing hole. Water is in play the entire length of the hole.
