Dollywood

An anchor attraction in Pigeon Forge, Dollywood is a 125 acre amusement park charmingly set in the Smokies. The brainchild of Dolly Parton, who wanted to give back to her hometown, Dollywood draws patrons from all over the South and Midwest with amazing rides, lots of local and internationally based festivals, music gatherings and imaginative holiday events.

New attractions include a musical extravaganza, Sha-Kon-O-Hey!, lit with the spirit of the Smoky Mountains, celebrating the rich heritage of the people who call these misty mountains home. Another new addition includes the awesome and adventurous SkyZip™ zip line that sails through mountain vistas on elevated and inclined wires high above the ground. This attraction takes 1 to 1.5 hours to complete and is set at the riders own pace. Be aware this attraction is priced separately from admission.

Popular rides include the rippin' roller coasters Blazing Fury, the Mystery Mine®, Tennessee Tornado, Thunderhead® and the kiddie coaster, VeggieTales® Sideshow Spin. Other awesome rides include the Dizzy Disk, Timber Tower™, Sky Rider and the Wonder Wheel. Seasonal rides and adventures include Beaver Creek, Beaver Creek Boat Float, Daredevil Falls, the White Lightning car chase, Smoky Mountain River Rampage and River Battle. Numerous kid-friendly rides include Amazing Flying Elephants, Demolition Derby, Dollywood Express, the Lemon Twist, Lucky Ducky, Piggy Parade, Shooting Star, Rockin' Roadway and the Village Carousel.

Dollywood also contains attractions found no where else, offering a glimpse into the life of the people who came to these hills such as the19th century Calico Falls Schoolhouse, the Robert F. Thomas Chapel, and a replica of Smoky Mountain Home, the house where Dolly Parton grew up. Artisans recreate the centuries-old tradition of hand-making crafts of the Smokies in studios and shops on site in Craftsman’s Valley. The Chasing Rainbows Museum showcases Dolly’s life from Locust Ridge, to Nashville and beyond and also offers tours of Dolly’s Home-on-Wheels which is parked outside the museum.

Music and entertainment are another big part of Dollywood. Many of the shows and special event festivals celebrate the music of the mountains with a warm appreciation of the music of the world. Come to Dollywood for the fun, for the rides and the joy of life found in the Great Smoky Mountains!
